Default brake job..

On month out of warranty (and 38K miles) I take my car to the local mechanic (one dealer in town that's just awful) and they tell me I need a full brake job- rotors and pads...totally freaked me out as I had my car in at the dealer at 35K miles with warranty still in tact and asked about the brakes specifically)..took it back to the dealer and contacted AoA..all agreed to replace front rotors only and all brake pads at no cost..thanked my lucky stars, but now I'm starting to worry about the back rotors..anyone else had this problems...

Default your back rotors see less strain

then your front rotors...the distribution of use/force is usually 70/30 sometimes up to 60/40.

you should be fine

appreciate the feedback WJM, but does it seem a bit unusual to need new rotors at 38k miles..love my A4, but buying a first year model has had its challenges

Default I've worn out rotors in much less than 38,000 miles.

It really depends on your driving style, driving conditions, part quality, etc. Take a look at your rotors. If they are glazed, that's and indication that you frequently make hard stops.

Default true...

Rotors are tricky especially with a new car. Do you do a lot of stop and go traffic/commuting?
Hard (emergency/race track type) braking can cause the rotors to warp, when this happens they need to be replaced.

I think any of the A4 enthusiasts can tell you that the brake pads break down rather quickly. I mean look at the dust generated!
I wouldnt worry/think that you will have to replace them again at 38k. just make your stops more gentle.

appreciate the comments all..I did a lot of SoCal stop and go rush hour driving in the earlier years of the car when I had significant brake dust..since moving to the midwest and getting the break job (10K miles ago) I've seen a lot less stop and go and brake dust....
