Brake Light and Left Turn Signal Failure... Help/Advise needed

Brake Light and Left Turn Signal Failure... Help/Advise needed
Took my car to get the A/C recharged... then I'm informed about an 'issue' and both my brake lights are failing, the right rear turn signal is out, but the center brake light and brake switch work. WTF?
Check All Fuses. Checked All Bulbs. No obvious issue. Seems to be a short of some kind...
It appears the harness is not getting the appropriate power.
1 - What are some things I should take a look at to resolve this on my own?
2 - I was shocked that this would have gone unnoticed and the mechanic made it my issue. What angle do I take with this mechanic if I cannot fix it on my own?
