I already read the Tech section so don't point me that way as lots of people like to do. I am just windering if, for replacing the pads, it is completely necessary to have that special tool that the writeup refers to. I have a 99.5 so I'm guessing it's different for different years since some people needed it and some didn't. Thanks.

so no it is not necessary but you do still need to push the front piston back in and the rear you have to push and twist.. it did require some effort
