Default Brake pad replacement %

At what percentage remaining should the front brake pads be replaced? (2000 A4 2.8Q)

It has about 36000 miles. At my last service about 1000 miles ago they were at 30% remaining. But they recently started squeaking a little when I brake, so I'm thinking they may be due.

What should I expect to pay for standard brakes? Any recomendations in San Francisco?

Thanks

Default fronts are easy to replace, get yourself some EBC green stuff

pads and to it yourself. You'll save money by not going to a dealer you'll also get less dust from the EBC pads.

Default A little squeaking is normal...

If you were truly at 30% 1000 miles ago...you've still got a long way to go before you need new pads. If you want to inspect the pads yourself, I would say below 2mm, start looking for new pads. Can't remember what the factor spec says....

Default should be fine for a while, but when you do i reccomend ebc or mintex redbox

around the same cost as OEM, but less dust... controversial "Better braking" with them.. but i think its the same

Default Thanks - is it OK to go Mintex front / standard rear?

Will it cause a braking imbalance if I use Mintex front with standard rear pads?
