Ok, so went to dealer for service
Pads 10% all around life left. They said 500-1000 miles max
750 to replace em all.
I think i'll do it myself... Is it easy enough?
So two questions:
1. at what point will the brake light indicator go on? (and how much longer do i have once that goes on)
2. what pads should i get? OEM? I like to drive spirited... canyons and fun driving, but no track use or anything. pep boys good? thank ya all

You will need a special tool to push the rear caliper pistons back in (they need to be twisted and pushed at the same time, do not even think about doing it without the tool). I used a universal tool from Astro Pneumatic, about $45, (see link below)
As for pads, EBC greens are a good choice (about $130 for a full set)

Astro 11-Piece Disc Brake Pad & Caliper Service Tool Kit, #7680

pad wear indicator is on front inner pads only. It should come on somewhere around 2mm of pad left...which means if there 10% estimate is correct, it should come on shortly. Mileage left...varies by driving style...could be a few hundred or over a thousand miles.
Tons of discussions about pads on the boards. www.purems.com should have a good pad that will meet your criteria. Just call mike up and tell him what you need. Don't forget to evaluate your rotors too. It's very possible you'll need two front rotors as well. I generally make it a rule to change the rotors and pad together (on a German car at least).
