Hey guys, part 2 of my A4 B5 issues.
I recently purchased this car, had some issues I've worked through this is the next issue I need to tackle.
I recently replaced the pads and rotors all the way around, I semi-rebuilt the rear calipers, just rubber bushings on the slides and the pistons. The calipers move in and out fine.
Anyway the problem is, now with the new setup, I am noticing that the only part on the rotor that seems to be grabbing / wearing is about 1-2" from on the outer edge. Its not grabbing the complete footprint of the pad.
Any ideas of what can be happening? I bleed the brake system, then I flushed the brake fluid and replaced with new DOT 4. Problem still persists. The brakes grab great and the pedal feel is good, but its not wearing as it should.
Thoughts?

Your message is confusing; Is it wearing only at the outer edge (your post title) or 1-2" from the outer edge (third sentance)? Which brake rotors are like this, and are both inside and outside surfaces doing this? And finally, as you drive the car, do the pads gradually contact more?

All four rotor have the same scenario. Hope that clarified things. If not let me know and I'll do my best to explain.

The only thing I can think of is the new pad's surfaces are not exactly parallel to the backing plates. I would expect that this is a non-issue, and the pads will eventually wear evenly.
