Default Brake upgrade

I've searched the list and have not found the answer to my question. What I want to know is, do I have to use larger rotors w/ upgraded calipers i.e. Porsche Boxter calipers. What I am thinking of doing is use those calipers w/ ECS OE two piece rotors. Basically I want to do a "big brake" upgrade without the big brake part. Also if this is possible will they fit behind stock A4 16" wheels?

I am quite certain that you need larger rotors - someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Default its cheaper to buy larger rotors than have someone machine a caliper mount to fit stock rotors...

and upgraded calipers. A8/B6-A4 312mm rotors will clear OEM 16" w/spacers for Boxster calipers, not certain about stock calipers w/TT carriers

Default Options

1)A8 upgrade: 312mm rotor & caliper carrier
2)Boxster/A8: 312mm rotor, caliper carrier, Boxster caliper

Skip on the ECS 2 piece rotors

This is a pic of my old Boxster/A8:

Default you can probably fit the boxster calipers on 312mm rotors under some 16" wheels.

just have to find out which 16" wheels. I believe I saw a guy with 16's at and boxster calipers at a winter driving school. Not sure exactly which rotor he was using or which caliper bracket... but he was using those 2000/01 sport 16" wheel.

I say SOME because offset and spoke shape will determine which 16's just like which 17" and 18" wheels. The allroad uses a ET25 spare wheel in 16" to clear 321mm rotors and HP2 calipers.

Default With the TT carriers, yes they will fit the wheels I had pictured without spacers...

the womans '01 2.8Q has the A8 312 fronts / S4 rears with PBR/Axxis Ultimate pads and she loves them.
