Default Brake warning light on the dash? - 98.5 1.8T QMS

The brake warning light has just started to come on my dash board. The light comes on intermitantley and I can't really tell what makes it come on. I have done some extremely hard braking and made the light turn on, but it doesn't happen all the time. I checked the brake fluid level and it is right in the middle between the min and max line. The car has 73K miles on it, any thoughts?

Default Which brake warning light?

Brake pad wear indicator or rear brake light indicator (burned out bulb)?

AFAIK, a '98 A4 doesn't have a brake pad wear indicator (pads have no sensors), but maybe I'm wrong...

Default Do 1998.5's have wear indicators?

I did some searching and I thought that 1999.5 were the first cars with wear indicators.

Default Might have a flaky switch on the ebrake...

assuming the brake is not actually engaged when the light is coming on.

If it's the brake fluid light that's coming on, just fill the brake fluid reservoir up to "max".
