Default *update* <walks out to work parking lot with screwdriver> =)

so looks kinda tight under the tank on a 30V. If I had a real camera what you would see is a pipe with the pre cat 02 sensor where the darkness is. When looking with a spot light I see tranny and my lovely wire surgery that I did a few days ago to get the backup lights working again. Didn't recognize where I would bleed though?

So looking that the VSS/Backup light sensor from above and having spent about 2-4 hours in the general area in the past two weeks seems like it is going to be easier from below. Still interested in thoughts though. I can get my Bentley when I get home but where is the bleed valve in relation to VSS?

If one were pressure bleeding it, then it can be gotten away with(very tight), but the fluid goes all over the gearbox and ancillaries. It's my policy, to avoid that if at all possible. Since my little home-made gravity/pressure bleeder needs to be below the source, it rarely occurs. Nothing is too easy on the V6 though, except for its appetite for parts. ; )

this is what you see when you remove the coolant tank..see that metal line
<img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/imawesomea4/IMG_4684.jpg">

now we zoom in a bit on that metal line, and you'll see the bleeder

I have my "helper" pump up the pedal, hold constant pressure on the pedal, crack the bleeder valve then shut it very quickly. Pedal(clutch) should now have recessed to the floor. It might not be able to come up by itself. Just pull the clutch pedal up by hand. Check the pedal travel for operation. It might need to be pumped up a couple times. This should not hurt, too much. I usually pressure bleed each valve(clutch, brake, etc.) three times at the end of about 10-20 pumps of fluid through the system. This way, there is no air in the system. This is a bit old-school, but has worked for me for over 20 years.

Sounds like it. I didn't mean to imply anything.

Default nice pics. yeah in that last one, well she looks, kinda like, well ummm, not like your car at all =)

Considering I got my backup light sensor wired back together with 1.2 hands under there the clutch bleed shouldn't be any worse and I'm guessing a bit easier.

Anyway thanks for the idea, sucks for me and now I know where the extra 150 lbs are, blocking my bleed valve ;-)

Default BTW, is that a plastic cap on the end of bleeder that you just pop off and then slip a rubber

tube over it to bleed? The Bentley doesn't show much on this, not to mention the drain tube is already attached in their lousy pic.

Off to STFA...
