My brakes are starting to make a very slight squealing noise when the brakes are applied between 10mph to stop..When i press the brakes at say 55mph or 35mph there is no squealing noise at all. Are my pads or rotors going? I only have 17,000 miles on my car.
Thanks for any input on this subject.

Do you know if it's from the front or the back? My rear pads and rotors---believe it or not---were replaced at about 18,000 miles. And I heard about another A4 in the dealership recently for the same thing, low-mileage rear brake replacement.
When the car was new I had occassional squealing at low speeds, and the dealership was never able to track it down. I suspect the rear brakes were dragging slightly.
So, anyway, it is possible to have need brake replacement on these cars at low mileage.

You had your rear pads replaced by the dealer? Was it covered under the warranty or did you have to pay?
Did you upgrade to different pads or did you stay with the stock? Have you replaced the fronts yet?
Thanks for the input.

The rear pads and rotors were replaced under warranty. The front pads have not needed replacement yet.
Despite the $@&*! dust, I intend to stick to the stock pads. I've heard mixed reviews about the popular street replacement pads (Mintex Red Box and EBC Green Stuff), and since I run 16" wheels in the winter I'm limited in my ability to step up to a totally different kit.
