Hey,
My 1997 A4 1.8T Quattro Automatic just suffered the infamous ignition switch failure. Unfortunately for me, the previous owner already had this replaced by recall so I'm on my own this time.
I've read the FAQ on this site, I'm just curious whether the part # listed in it (4A0-905-849-B) works for my 1997 car.
I ask because the dealership told me that that part # was for a 1996 and the 1997 part is more expensive. Also, ECS Tuning's site seems to have switches for 1996 and 1998+, but skips 1997.
What's up? Have any 1997 owners used this part # successfully?

switch in it. I replaced my switch twice so far after the recall. I bought the switch the second time from the dealer. The older switch was actually cheaper for me, $30 compared to the newer switch, which is $70.
