Okay I got a broke valve and a bent one as of now. All the pistons on the driver side show some damage from the valve stems. Should I replace all the valve stems on this side and leave the ones on the passenger side alone since they look fine? The pistons are not cracked but the tops of them are damaged from the valve stems should I smooth the surface of the pistons?

The reason this all happened is because my timing belt tensioner broke. When it broke it sheared the screw off and damaged by crankshaft casing. I don't think I will have a problem getting the screw out but since the casing got damaged where the tensioner sits should I be concerned about it?

Any input would be great.
Thanks.

Usually if the head breaks off the valve, damage to the piston is severe enough to warrant replacment.
If each piston just has a ding where each valve hit it, you are probably OK to just replace any bet valves and go. But check *all* valves to make sure they are sealing correctly.

yes as 4driver said you should be fine, but do check all the valves that they seal. as for the tensioner, it looks ok in the pic. I have seen several with that sheared bolt. the last one I did the bolt came right out so good luck!

i noticed today on the one piston that the recessed area got hit and damaged the lip. it wasn't to bad but i sanded it away so it could break off or cause a crack.
