Default Buying GIAC, questions from a simpleton....

Getting ready to buy a GIAC chip. Here are the questions.

1.) Where do I buy from to have it pre-installed in an ecu. Either for trade with my stock or just an ecu....

2.) Will the service people at the local audi garage get grumpy because they have to work with/around my modified ecu?

Thanks guys!

Default I know # 2 is almost always a YES.

they wont like the fact that you've altered the car, it bothers them and they resent you for that. Also, it can void your warranty on the engine so never admit to having modded the car and read up on having 2 chips.

Search or call some places like APR, AWE or any other reputable tuner.

Default buy a used ECU at www.car-parts.com

for $150-$200 and send it to AWE or some other GIAC tuner to have it chipped.
swap back and forth when you visit the stealership. if you have a laptop or access to one, get the VAG cable to reset codes. when you swap ECU's, you will throw a "loss of power" code and the dealership may ask you why the code was there. i did the above mentioned b/c i don't like to roll the dice w/ dealerships and i don't want my AA warranty voided.
