Default Which bypass valve to buy?

After reading some threads on BPV, I decided to change out mine and hopefully that will correct my lack of low end torque issue. Greed Speed has one for not too much money. What are the other choices and are they really different?

I also read something about TT BPV, this is the stock BPV in Audi TT?

Thanks guys.

Default The TT works fine, but I've heard of people blowing them occasionaly, apart from that buy whatever

is on sale or cheapest. They are pretty simple designs and I don't think one is superior over the other.

Default I bought a Forge...

That would be the stock TT BPV that you read...most likely.

I would imagine most of the aftermarket bypass valves are good. I don't think I have read about anyone who bought an aftermarket BPV who had issues with it. TT BPV will run you around 30-35 bucks, aftermarket BPV's will run over 100 bucks in many cases.

The one I have is heavy metal and looks like it will last a lifetime...not sure if the same could be said for the TT's.

did you have to grease the Forge before you put it on or does it come pre-lubed?

Default There is an excellent article in this months Sport and Compact Car (SCC)....

about BPV's. How they work etc.. they tested all types including a stock, 710N (audi TT), bailey, and strat, and forge. There are obvious diffs. between stock and the aftermarket designs, but looking at the graphs of boost vs. TP they all were equally as effective. The biggest difference between the OEM and Aftermarket versions is that you cant service the OEM types. IT really is a good primer article on the subject. BTW for all of you about to flame me for reading SCC, they do have very good tech articles. ;} I have been using the Porsche 993 BPV for a couple of weeks after replacing my TurboXS gigantor valve, and now I wish I would have saved 40 and just bought the 710N.

Default I'm on my second TT valve. I pulled my stock valve after 20k........

opened it up, not a thing wrong with it. Pulled my first TT valve after 25k, opened it up, not a thing wrong with it. Take it for it's worth.
