I went to Audi to have my A/C filled up and they did but they said they couldn't get my compressor to engage. I didn't have an appointment so they counldn't diagnose the problem at the time.
I need to know how to test the compressor. I stuck a paperclip between the prongs of the pressure switch (by the firewall) and all it did was turn on the accessory fan but the compressor still didn't engage. Is there another swtich that I can use the paperclip meathod on? Are there any other suggestions? Thanks.

if there is voltage but no A/C = trashed clutch or compressor.
if there is no voltage, then there's an electrical problem.

This will tell you right away if it's the comp or the controls. Just don't do it for too long. If it starts getting cold with the comp jumped in it's controls. If you can't see the clutch engage and rotate the compressor then it's the clutch. If the clutch engages and it doesn't get cold the either R134 is out or the system is plugged - orifice tube or dryer most likely.
