Default Cali people: Question about window tint, I just got a citation for having my front windows tinted.

Anybody know whether I can just pay the fine, rather than having it fixed?

Thanks

Default Is it a service ticket? If you need a cop to sign off on it they will check that it is removed.

where did you get busted?

Default Beverwil and Pico essentially

He claimed i made an illegal left turn, and then gave me a choice between a moving violation or "making my car legal".

Now that I think about it I'm not sure that my turn was illegal (I think he said it was posted no left turn 7-9 am, and he wrote me up at 9:15).

If I'd been thinking I should have taken the moving violation . . .

he also got me for no front plate. that's easy enough to fix i just need to remove the plugs i put in the holes and mount my front plate.

i know i've paid front plate tickets before without having to mount the plate, so i was hoping to be able to do it with the tint too.

Default In theory you're correct, but I've paid violations for no front plate without putting a plate on.

so i was just wondering if the same could be done for window tint

Default tinting is no longer a "fix-it" in california.

i got a ticket for tinting as well, but i checked around with vehicle codes and such, and you are no longer required to remove tint, nor does removing tint reduce the fine amount. it is a flat fee, regardless. they dont even look at your tint.

a missing front plate, however, IS a fix-it. the fine is much smaller if you add a plate and sign it off.

its all true.

i swear.

you are only required to pay the fine. no longer a "fix-it" violation.

Default Interesting. How much was the fine for tinting?

and did you just send the amount in?

(the cop said I should get some information about it in the mail in about 3 weeks).

Thanks.
