In California is it legal to have a german front plate with your state numbers/letters on it???

Default It depends on where you park

At least in Palo Alto, if you park in a spot where city parking laws are enforceable, you can and will be ticketed for having no front plate.

I just saw a Palo Alto parking officer cite a Porsche parked in a 2-hour zone on a city street for having no front plate. There was no other offense being written up, and the driver didn't exceed the 2-hour limit. The driver was there while the ticket was being written up, and argued with the parking officer about it, "the dealer didn't put on a bracket". Didn't matter to the officer -- the ticket was handed to the woman.

Default I've had mine on my VW for 6 years. No probs. S4's nose is too nice to ruin with a plate.

Default Plus the german plate is easier for them to read than CA plates.
