170K on the 1.8T A4. I can't take the leaking VC any longer. Read that its a good idea to replace the gasket and half-moon piece under the CCT while I'm in there.

Questions:
Since I'm going this far, how can I tell if the CCT needs to be replace altogether? My car does sound like a turbo diesel...but is there any thing else?

Also, prices seem to be all over the place for CCT. Any recommendations on a source? THANKS!

if it's rattling badly, might be time. check for significant wear on the chain guides.. they may be worn beyond repair anyway, which would mean new tensioner.
