cam lock timing tool

i have a 96 a4 non quattro with the 2.8 v.6
having some trouble locating a cam lock timing tool. all of the ones i have found on the net only state the tool works on the DOHC engine. will this tool work on the SOHC?
blew a head gasket and getting things rounded up to perform surgery....

The 12V and 30V require different Cam locking tools.
You'll find the correct part here

Yep, the cams are spread further apart on the 30V, so that tool won't work. Check Koch tools, that's where I got mine. I've used it only once, but it looked so nice that I clear-coated the thing and hung it in the garage!
