Default Can any garage safely mount and balance new tires?

I would like to replace my Dunlop SP-8000E tires with an all weather tire, probably the Falken Ziex ZE-512.

Can any garage safely mount and balance new tires or are there precautions to observe when choosing someone to change my tires?

Also, would you need to be a Costco member to have Cosco's garage change my tires? Does Sam's Club offer a similar service?

Default Make sure they have touchless tire mounting equipment

You will need to be members to Costco and Sam's to mount your tires.

Default Re: Make sure they have touchless tire mounting equipment

If they do, does it matter where I get them mounted and balanced?

Also, someone previously mentioned something about pinch welding points (for flat lift) (?) and road force balancing? What are these and is there anything I should know about them when shopping for a garage to change my tires?

Default It does matter. Go to TireRack's website to find reviews of local garages in your area.

Also, call Gary @ tirerack for prices on tires, which he can drop ship for you. I had an awesome experience with Tirerack.

Default Do a search on the forums for NTB...

feedback ranks right up there with "Jiffy Lube".

Default Depends mostly on the installer.

A good installer with so-so equipment can do a very nice job with your wheels.

A bad installer can leave your wheels scratched up, and poorly balanced, even after using the best equipment.

This is advice I got from a distributor of commercial balancing machines (and other big $$$ commercial equipment).
