can a blown power steering pump mess anything else up?

if its not fixed for awhile. Why am I thinking it can mess the steering rack up? It doesnt make sense to me but for some reason I remember hearing this. This didn't happen just curious.

Yes. Debris from the pump can contaminate the rack, & damage all sorts of things inside.

Are you joking? I honestly can't tell.

The hydraulic assist system in the rack is the reason the car has a PS pump, so yes, they do share fluid.
