Default Can i get some feedback on mods...and pricing..

I have been thinking and I want to hit 300hp or at least a little under and these are the mods I've selected to get up there on top of my current settings.
Ported Manifold $375(exchanged)
Front Mount Intercooler $850
High flow Downpipe $259
High Air flow Intake $179.99
Steel Brake Lines $139 ( I know this doesn't add hp, but its a mod I'm looking at)
Let me know what you guys think...Next of course is the K04 Turbo upgrade.

Default 300 hp is hard to hit...

If you are talking about a 1.8t your going to want to look at the APR stage 3 turbo upgrade. Although they have talked about the stage 3+ only a handful of people have actually seen it. Your better off getting the intercooler from somneone else and the stage 3 from APR.. I have heard people claiming 340 hp with the 100 octane race fuel setting. As for getting 300 hp with pump gas, your going to be close to 300 after the turbo and manifold. Rememmber the intercooler does not add horsepower... it only allows the engine to run more efficently.. Good luck man, i am looking at the same setup.. who are you looking to get your manifold from? hope this helped.. There is also nitrous if you wanna go fast and the furious style... good luck

Default I don't think that you can get all the way to 300 hp with a K04.

You are going to need to go PES T-28 kit or APR Stage III to get really close to 300 hp.

Default Re: 300 hp is hard to hit...

I will never do nitrous, that is stupid, I don't want to burn up the car. I was looking at Supremepowerparts.com for the manifold, or even these guys out on Long Island that will do a custom job, but I don't know a price on that yet. You think the K04 wont get me to 300? I've seen so much different things out there... Like my chip "40+hp gain" so I'm at 210 exhaust 10-15hp up to 220-225hp, k&n (i've heard adds up to 3hp). I apparently to some pages "stage I or II" am running 225 hp. And accoring to Evoms.com their intercooler adds up to 20hp, but that isn't right. I know the down pipe will give me up to 15hp, so then I'll get to 240. What else is there? I don't really want to touch the turbo just yet. I want to keep the engine somewhat stock too.

Default Awe's K04 kit advertises that it only gets you to 240hp. I doubt that you will get 240 without some

of bigger turbo.

Default Don't even bother with a K03 or K04....

They will not flow the amount of air you need (without self-destructing anyways) no matter what upgrades you put on your car (short of nitrous)

Go with a PES T28 kit or APR Stage III. Coupled with some other mods, you'll hit your 300hp mark easily.

Default Re: 300 hp is hard to hit...

to be totally honest, i am not sure if there is much more you can do without touching the turbo. The only other things i can think of are high flow cat or cat eliminator. which is illegal. Doing a turbo upgrade will not hurt the B5 engine.. our motors are built well enough to take the extra power. Take a look at some options, make some phone calls, talk to some reps.. they wont mind.. they want your money as bad as you want 300 hp... Just remmember you are going to want to do a stiffer suspension if you have that kind of power. Because with just a chip and exhaust my car used to look like it was going to pull a wheelie... you can go with springs that lower your car.. aka race springs.. or you can go with sport springs that only lower it to about where the sport setup is, a little lower.. Good luck

Default Nothing stupid about nitrous as long as the system is set-up properly and you don't get carried away

Not practical for everyday use but it is for the strip.

Default Adding up parts does not give you all the added hp.

To get 240 hp out of a K03 you will need to fine tune it for 104 octane. I was able to get 250 hp out of it but that took a year to get just right. But you will never get 240 hp out of a K03 on pump gas. YOu will be lucking to be making 220 hp on all the parts you just talked about.
