Can I paint my brake rotor hubs with caliper paint?

I am putting new brake rotors on my car soon, and rather than buying the expensive 2-piece ECS rotors, or even the cadmium or zinc plated slotted rotors, I think I'll just get the less expensive OEM rotors.
However my Oett RE wheels are pretty open, and the brakes show right through. Right now rust collects on the rear hub, and it is UGLY.
Since I'm not getting plated rotors, can I just paint the hubs to prevent the rust, using caliper paint or similar? (One vendor even recommended BBQ grill paint.)
So a very important question -- what color should I paint the hubs -- black or silver?
Thanks,
P.

you can go to the auto parts store and buy a can of that black spray paint that is for engines. It has a high heat rating and would be perfect for that project.

I painted the hubs of the used and rusty rear S4 rotors I bought. I went with black but in hindsight, silver would look better. Maybe something close to the shade of the wheels. Black definately does not look "ricey".
I would go with a high temp paint since they (probably) get as hot as the calipers. Especially if you are tracking it.

Thats exactly the stuff you need...
Not sure if I'd buy from that place though, they spell brake "break" and rotor "roter" ...

http://72.10.43.141/breakcaliper.htm</a
