Can I take the bulbs/ballasts off of an A6 avant?

There is an '03 A6 Avant at the local yard with a perfect front end, I would like to get the bulbs/ballasts off of it and use in my S4 headlight housings.

Will this plan work? They are D2S bulbs...

D2S are the correct type of xenon bulb... however the ballasts are nothing like OE B5 ones

You can make em work if you are feeling creative.

is it just the size of the ballasts?

How would taking this kit off of the A6 compare to ordering teh vvme kit?
