I wholeheartedly agree. Otherwise I would never have done any mods in the first place.
We all hopefully are aware our risks increase with what we do. Like your view on things

Yes it can be done. I am doing it right now. I make around 225-230 hp and around 260-275 tq
using 104 octane race fuel. Yes the boost drops fast after 5k but we shift just before 6K anyway to stay in the meat of the power band which just above 4500. You must understand that is setup is only good for burst of speed or drag racing, I will be doing a 25psi chip soon that should get me down to 14 flat but first I will put my present setup in the 14.3's after I get my new clutch put in.

Well if you plan on running 20psi you will need bigger injectors for the non dbw cars, but the dbw
cars already have bigger injectors for the bigger K03 it has and they will do the job just fine. We will be tuning a new chip for the non dbw car that will be pushing 20psi with larger injectors soon. THIS SETUP IS FOR DRAG RACING ONLY WITH 100+ RACE FUEL.

Someone at APR told one of the Passat guys that they can make 230hp with their race program (100 octane) and no additional mods on their '99 Passat (not even exhaust). Sounds to me like they didn't want to lose a customer to a K04. See the thread on Vortex.
I think that it can be done, but not just the way that APR said. I can see their claim being a bit more realistic with an exhaust and some additional mods, but still on a cable throttle car that is kind of far fetched.
