I have a worn leatherette seat that isn't quite torn but is getting there.
Do I have to replace the whole seat or ist there a way just to patch it up some way?

I may be able to help you some. A couple of years ago, my leatherette seats developed some 'hairline' cracks on the set bottom-side cushion. NOw this wasn't due to wear, but appeared to be a defect. Regardless, they were going to take it somewhere to get repaired - so repair may be possible. However since it wasn't under warrantee, I insisted on getting it replaced, and in the end Audi replaced the vinyl seat covering.

Call around to a couple of uplholstry shops in your area- Especially the ones that deal with vinyl and leatherette. I have a pretty bad tear in my driver's seat cushion on the left leg bolster- I was told that it could be repaired and that it would be undetectable, though if the tear/crack is in a high wear area (which it is) that the problem could resurface. They quoted me $70- Not bad, but still a little high. I didn't get it repaired, as I plan on changing some interior stuff around anyways, and figured it wasn't worth spending the cash on at the time.
