Can the radiator and/or water pump in a 1.8t be replaced without removing the bumper?

Default Can the radiator and/or water pump in a 1.8t be replaced without removing the bumper?

My Chilton manual says so but sometimes it isn't clear wether it is talking about the V6 or 1.8t.

Default Radiator no, water pump probably, but why? it's so easy to get the nose down, why kill yourself...

trying to work around it?

Default Just curious, I thought it would be easiest to remove the bumper but...

the Chilton manual makes it sound like it's not neccary.

try to stick your hand between the radiator and the timing belt cover. Then you decide if it is...

You can put the rad in the service position though but yeah it's tight!
