Can someone englighten me on the difference between S-02 and S-02 PP?

Here is a quote that seems to sum up the differences between the S02's and the S02PP.
"The Potenza S-02 Pole Position features a unique Dual-Layer Tread comprised of two rubber compounds, one layered on top of the other. As the top layer wears to about half tread depth, it begins to expose the underlayer which has a higher silica content to provide more wet grip. This helps reduce the natural tendency for a tire's wet traction to decline as the tread depth wears away.
