Default Can someone explain heel-toe shifting to me please. thanks

When driving hard and braking hard before a corner i usually brake with my heel and rev match for the downshift with my toe. does that have anything to do with it?

Default Kinda...

First, keep your heel planted on the floorpan. Your heel should not be on the brake pedal. The ball of your foot is used to negotiate the brake and accelerator pedal just as you described. If you want to brake into a corner, and shift gears so you're ready for the exit, you'll need to blip the throttle while you're applying the brakes. You do that by rotating on the heel of your foot, holding the brake pedal steady, and blipping the throttle with your little toe (so to speak).

Practice doing this in a straight line. You don't want your attention diverted in the middle of a turn at 9/10th's. Once you've refined your technique, then try it in the turns.

Default BAM!

we have to "toe and Heel" in our Audi's though due to position of the pedals. you can get a pedal kit to extend the gas pedal to make it wider.

Unless of course you have size 13 feet. 8-)

Default Based on what these guys posted...I have things a little backwards.

The articles they posted use the heel of the foot to blip the throttle, while I described using the ball of the foot. For me, I need the heel firmly planted, so I try to negotiate the brake with the left half of my foot, and touch the throttle with the right half of my foot. I haven't mastered this technique...so maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but it works better for me this way.

Default it really comes down to what ever works for you.......

depending on what shoes I'm wearing it can be done exactly as you do, but with narrower shoes on have to brake with the Heel, and Blip with the Toe.

But, only in a straight line before the turn.
you can Trail Brake through the turn, but thats right on the edge! but Fast.
