can someone walk me through what is supposed to happen when i claim repairs on insurance?

When you call, they will ask you what happened. Then they usually take a recorded statement about the details of the accident. After that is done, they will discuss where to get it fixed, or where to get the damage appraised at. You will also have to fill out a couple of forms (one for the insurance and one for the state).

can we choose the place to get it fixed? or must it be specified by ins co.

Default What will happen if u've talked to the ins. co. and then changed ur mind?
Will they still file the report? Will the ins. rate go up?

Default the agent said he wont file it until i made up my mind.
but he kinda hinted that this was hard =]

Usually, the insurance will guarantee the work for as long as you own the car if you use one of their shops.

Default The rates will go up...
if it is reported to the state. If they see points on his record, they will raise his rates whether or not he files a claim.
