Can you hear the stock A4 turbo?
Hi all, I have a 98.5 A4 1.8t with 68k miles
I just purchased it a week ago. How can i tell if the turbo is working, I can't tell if the slight whistling sound I hear when i accelerate is the turbo or the defect with the drivers side mirror.
I know the 1.8t is a small turbo and there is no noticeable pushback feeling or turbo lag, so what would be the most accurate indocator if the turbo is working?

You can hear the turbo stock...
in a lower gear, 2nd works best for my car, mash the throttle a little around 1500rpms. You should not accelerate very fast and you will hear a little howl, then you will start to pick up and actually move around 2k. That little howl is the turbo spooling, and you start moving after that because it's doing it's job. It actually sounds more like a light whistle or something.
