Can you use 205/60 16's on a 99.5 A4 ? (instead of 205/55)

OEM tire size is 205/*55* 16 according to the manual...I noticed the tire options grow and the price drops with 205/60's. I have the standard non-sport suspension. Please advise...

but like qfrog said, 205/55/16 is actually a very common size. You want to save a couple of bucks at the expense of negatively affecting your handling?
Please don't tell me u use Fram filters as well.

I have a n/s Avant V6, kinda pretend allroad. I always felt that the 55s were too small in general. After buying many, many sets of a/s tires, at least 1 set a year, I decided to try the 60s. I was already comfortable with the 215/55-16s I had leftover from my B6, they were kinda bulky but rode well. Our roads in NEPA are rough and we get a lot of snow. I was also in the midst of control arm replacment, I figured that if the bigger tires ride better the CAs will last longer. So I got some G-009s in 205/60-16 and they were great, paid like $80 installed. My next set were Fuzion HRis..guess what: $57 each installed! Wanna hear the punchline? All the heads here say, "lower tires handle better and go faster". Nope, not 'round these here partz. I can go faster over rough roads. I don't have to baby the car over RR tracks and it's just better overall. I SWEAR given a choice between the 55s and 60s, I'd take the 60s price aside. However, $57 for 16s installed, that's insane. Also, before you claim that 60s are not performance sized, BMW 3-series use them. Wider tires are not necessiarly better either, 225s, no way! BTW- I put 205/65-15 on Mom's B4 A6 Avant, it works better than the 205/60s, that's also my snow size...rolls right over icy chunks.
This pic is with the 215s.

The point is that A4 of kind of a performance sedan/avant, and the tall sidewall doesn't exactly help achieve that quick/firm steering response.
Which 3-series uses 205/60/16? The more recent ones (E46) use either 205/55/16, 205/50/17, or 225/45/17.
