Default They are at 39psi and bald! 36psi,,no thanks!

dude..36psi with my suspension on bald tires equals bent rim! Like I need your worthless advice. The last thing I am gonna ask for is some kid telling me how much air to put in my tires..that is fricken lame. I think I know my B5 A4 pretty well by now.

Default Really? Well for everyone else that doesn't want to ruin your tires...read on

The tire pressure on your sidewall is the MAX pressure the tire is supposed to get to. So for example, a bridgestone s-03 is rated at 51 psi max at cold. But you should never run your tires anywhere near that limit. Why? Because at that point on your car your tire won't be sitting square on the ground, instead it will be buldged higher in the center, which equals less grip. After many times at the road course testing different pressures I found cold pressure can go up 10-12 psi when hot. For track use, I set around 36-37 psi in cold tires, but for street use around 38 psi in cold tires. You will get the most amount of rubber on the ground and that equals the best grip. When I overinflated and the tires got hot, that is when the car became really bouncing and slid around way too much.

Here is some info pulled from other another respectable source.

In the event that you aren't able to find a recommendation for your car, or the tires on your car are so different from those that were originally fitted from the manufacturer as to be incomparable, we received the following rule of thumb from Oscar Pereda, an engineer for BFGoodrich. He calls it a "realistic starting point," saying it has never been just right, but is a good place to start. The rule is:

(Vehicle Weight in lb/100) + 2 psi at heavier end + 2 psi all around if suspension and alignment are stock.

Example: Stock 911, 3,000 lb.
(3000/100) = 30 psi
Add 2 psi all around = 32 psi
Add 2 psi to heavy end = 34 psi at rear
With modified suspension, the result is 30 psi front, 32 psi rear.

Now using this same math, you can easily see why an Audi should be around 36-38 psi. 44 is much to high for any Audi pending you aren't using it as dumptruck instead of a car.
