Default car bucking

Hi--
Has anyone noticed a problem on their A4 where the car will do a mild "buck" when slightly releasing the gas pedal or when slightly depressing it? I started getting this problem around 19K miles and it happens about 75% of the time when I take my foot off the gas going around 35mph in 3rd gear. The only way to keep the car from bucking is to depress the clutch before taking my foot off the gas. My dealer says there's nothing wrong after various people there test drove it.

Default Sounds like quattro....(more)

It sounds like the bucking that occurs due to quattro...I remember hearing that this happens due to the driveline. For me, it's only in 1st and 2nd gear...otherwise it seems fine. What's strange is that you only noticed it at 19K miles....this would imply that something is wrong...you might want to try an archive search using "bucking" or "driveline lash" etc. I seem to remember someone saying something about another possible problem (something to do with the ECU adjusting the throttle automatically....don't remember exactly...).
-Ash
98.5 1.8TQMS

Default Re: car bucking

I have the same problem from time to time. I have a 96Q, and it usually will buck around 3or4th gear. I told the dealer and of course they responded with "we don't see anything wrong." I have 40K on it now, and the bucking instances have gone down considerably, but they do occur at times. Please reply if you find any further news.

I just started to notice this on my automatic 971.8T Q. I used to always use Sunoco 94. Last fill up I used Texaco 93--I thought that might have something to do with it.
Anthony

Default Two ideas to explore based on old Couep Quattro experiences

Fist, am not noticing problem on my 98.5 Avant 30V.
1) Mihgt be a bad engien mount, differential mount, or center driveshaft mount. On old Coupe, these had rubber mounts which startd deteriorating with age.
2) Throttle position sensor. Mine was loose on old Coupe, led to some of these types of responses. (although I might expect a "Check Engine" light to come on).
