Default Vag-Com scan is needed before anything else......

If you don't have one then have a shop scan it.

Possibly your idle-air control valve/solenoid.

Default i'm thinking because of how intermittent it is, might be the fuel filter and possibly the pump

my sending unit is out for sure...says i'm empty when i have 1/2 a tank and bounces around.

the pump/filter is still original.

when you're rolling to a stop are you in neutral or in gear?

Default Give me output from measuring blocks 0, 32, 55

Also, you might want to watch/log measuring block 33 when this stalling condition happens.

Default coolant temp sensor...

check the coolant temp via VAG before starting the car in the morning. If it is reading differently than ambient, it will cause the car to run rich and therefore harder to catch itself when slowing to idle.

Default battery? I know last winter, my car would do the same thing coming down the same off ramp

coming home from work. happened almost every day and this was a few miles from work, but the first time that I'd lift since it was bascially out of the parking lot and onto the highway to this off ramp to back roads to home. so, I started rev'ing it in nuetral down the ramp to make sure it kept running and then test it when I stopped and hoped it didn't stall or catch it if it tired to.

I have no idea why it stopped because the battery didn't finally die until last month, but I think an aging Odyssey PC680 isn't a great battery to have in dead cold of winter.

like Will said, CTS is a good place to start and it's a cheap to try a new one. strange how it affects things.
