but the Voltage is reading fine and there isn't any hesitation starting, so I'm leaning away from that.
I didn't know the CTS played such a big role...I'll give that a try. I'm on my second one now. When my first one went out, it was just giving me wrong readings on my Coolant gauge; nothing nearly as dramatic as this.

This is the one used by the computer.
The instrument cluster one is either on the radiator or on the coolant expansion tank---those are different ones.

spray disc brake cleaner around the base and be careful not to get it on the electronic controller otherwise you can damage it. If the idle increases or stabilize, either the gasket needs replacing or the bolts are loose.
