This is what I would do:

Run a test light or LED from the trigger wire of the starter. Tape the light to outside of the windshield so you can see when the starter has power of the trigger. When the problem occurs, look at the light:
Light on when key is turned to "start"? Starter issue most likely.
Light doesn't come on? Starter solenoid not getting power.

You want the trigger wire at the starter, the smallest.

Ive found cheap new starters for this car on ebay for about 70 to 80 dollars i used the part # search to be accurate

Is this a bad idea? its so cheap but i have to pop start my car alot more now its just being ****ty. i could do this more afforadably or buy a more brand name but it would take a week or two to buy the piece? well not that long but the eta of when i would have the peice bught and fixed? or in a week have bought the cheaper bought and have it done quicker.

Uhh yea diagnose it first. When you have to put the car in service position, and remove the alternator, and possibly the engine mount, you dont wanna just replace it for fun.

Well I called the dealer and they said I can get the starter for whole sale price, that's not the point though
Im having them check it today, odd though it started right up today in the morning. Still bringing it though.

I had the same problem on my 01 A4 Q/5spd, and it was the clutch/starter interlock switch. It is under the lower dash cover at the top of the pedal. I just unplugged the switch and made a jumper for the plug, and it works great, just make sure not the start the car in gear with the clutch engaged!!!

After a couple of jerks, he'll learn. It's not like the engine will actually start in gear and start propelling the car forward, though that would be endless fun to watch
