I think he is wrong; C&D has the highest standard for testing.
I've subscribed since the mid 80s, and they go to great lengths to ensure accurate results. Every year or so they will have a blurb on their testing equipment and its capabilities. They correct for humidity, temp, etc, and will note when using a fresh skidpad.
European car has to have the freakin' worst testing standards of any magazine. I honestly would not be surprised if they do 0-60 times by counting "one-one thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand." Their results never seem anywhere near accurate.
Motortrend.....PLEASE! I think they just take the manufacturer's word for it.
R&D: Another good magazine that has high standards
Autoweek: they hardly ever bother with testing numbers, so when they do, I don't trust them.

You think making corrections for conditions is real world testing?
When does anyone have the perfect conditions to even come close to thier claims for any car. Fact is if they want real world testing, take the car to the local track and put a "REAL" person in the seat not a pro driver.
I would love to see the full data of all the runs of each test of just one car to see how the numbers of the test jump up and down for even the pro driver they use.

No, but it is VERY important for comparison.
That is why you can trust their numbers when comparing a road test of a '04 S4 and a test a year earlier for an M3. The corrections make it a fair comparison. Just think if they tested an Audi S4 on a very dry, very cold day, then tested an M3 on a hot humid day.....
