Default Car hiccups and stalls...I did SEARCH a lot and still no luck figuring it out

Hi guys I'm new to the forum (1st post). I have a 2000 1.8t (ATW) quattro. I have seen many other people with symptoms similar to mine but I still can't fix the damn car.

I have new K&N air filter
I cleaned the injectrs with the Red Line FIC
I have new spark plugs

The first few times when the car died there were no DTCs.

I VAGed it yesterday and I got a couple of codes on the throttle body - "Lower stop not reached" and "Adaptation not started". When I turned the ignition on the throttle body was going crazy opening and closing and my CEL and EPC lights were blinking.

So i taught it was the TB, and i took it off and I cleaned it. I put it back on and.... no change. Still crappy idle (from timt to time) and the car stalled again today. I VAGed it again and I got "Error in Mapped Cooling System (check Temp-Sensor and thermostat) I have read that the sensor can send weird signals to the ECU and cause rough idle but no stalling. Thermostat is new as well.

Some people change the coilpacks and oxygen sensors but I don't think that is my problem. OS will throw a code right? And i doubt a bad coil on 1 cylinder will be anough to stall the car.

What do you guys think?

Default Hmm...

if you just installed the K&N. That could be your problem. They come very heavily oiled. It's possible you fouled your Maf with excess oil.. 2 options to remedy this. 1) clean it b)buy a new one. In the meantime... try disconnecting it and starting it. good luck

Default did you do a throttle adaption with VagCom?

I would do that first and then see what happens.

K&N filter got in 2 months ago. Wouldn't a bad MAF throw a DTC?

Default Most (notice I said MOST) faulty MAFs will.

Then you have the ones that fail and don't throw a code. They suck.

I bet your TB is shot. External cleaning won't do. Maybe borrow another and check after TB adapt

Default I'm not sure how to do it w/ VAG-Com. I had the battery disconnected for 10 mins, and then...

the ignition on (engine off) for a minute.
