i recently bought this car which had egr code, throttle position sensor, and 02 sensor. i cleaned the egr and i vacuum test it and it works. i also cleaned the 02 sensors and replaced the throttle body sensor. i just started the car up and it was idling around 2 then after a minute the check engine light came on and the car went up to 3000 rmp and stayed there even after it was warmed up.....helppp

This post almost makes me curious enough to ask the year and model of your car and what codes you are seeing.

its a 1997 a4 quattro 2.8 .... i just got back from autozone and the codes read p1101 definition heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1 sensor circuit voltage too low - air leak explanation open or short circuit condition probable cause poor electrical connection, exhaust leak near 02, failed h02s11......the second code reads p0138 definition heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2 sensor circuit high voltage explanation rich air/fuel ratio probable cause short circuit condition faulty h02s12

i dont see how oxygen sensors could cause such a high rpm....i was thinking the map sensor but nothing popped up for that....
