car idling behavior...

car idling behavior...
ok, so i just noticed this yesterday for the first time, but i don't know if it's been like this all along...
when i start up my car after it's been resting for a little while, the engine automatically idles at 1200 RPMs and after a minute or so, it drops down to 1000 RPMs and finally settles down to 800 RPMs. I'm used to just seeing it idle at 800 RPMs. The engine sound does change when the RPMs drop... anyways, i don't know if this has always been the behavior and i'm just noticing it now or what. how does everyone else's engine behave when first starting up the car?
