Hey I need some help. I am going to lend my car to a very good friend for the summer while I am away. Is there anything I have to do insurance wise or otherwise to make this legal?
Can I just leave the car with them or do I have to add them to my insurance policy etc?
Thanks

I got screwed with that last week...I borrowed a friend's car but she had the proof of insurance in her purse, not in the car.

As long as you leave proof of insurance in the car, they will be fine. However, if you are leaving the car with them the entire summer, and they will be driving the car, I would DEFINITELY call your insurance company to let them know. They may raise your insurance (depending on your friend's driving history), however, if something messy should happen, you don't want your insurance company hanging you out to dry because you "lied" to them by not notifying them about an additional driver.
