Default Car misfiring at cold startup...1.8T with T-28 (more)

97 1.8T with PES T-28. Every morning the car seems to misfire underload until it warms up. It idles fine and initially it runs O.K after a couple of mins into my moring drive it starts to misfire for a minute or two and then everything is O.K. VAGed the car, no codes. Changed the plugs and have order a new POS. Hopefully that solves the problem as I had an issue with misfires at idle a while back in cylinder #1 but the problem just went away.. testing back then pointed to the POS and not the coil packs or plugs.

any other thoughts??

When was the last time you changed the rubber boots below the CP's?

Yeah...relatively inexpensive, and a good thing to replace before you bang your head against a wall.

Default I'm having the same exact problem right now and have had no luck fixing it...

I've switched the plugs, messed around with their gaps, and I actually just got back from the dealership to do the coilpack recall and was informed informed my packs weren't recalled.

Default I'll let you know if I figure it out. Steve your DBW right? ...

I've done all the same. Intermittent problems are the worse to find. Hopefully, its the POS that is going since I ordered a new one.

Yes, I'm a drive by wire. Sorry for the ignorance, but what does POS stand for?

Default Power Output Stage control unit . Which you don't have on your DBW...

In DBW cars the POS unit is built right into each coil pack. However, if the POS is my problem then it might point to your coil packs being the cause of your problem as well. Just a guess. :^)
