Car shakes at idle sometimes

I own a 2000 A4 1.8T tiptronic, and notice that the car shakes for a bit at times when I'm its stationary after running a while, like at a stoplight, and this happens while the car is in 'D' gear. It usually goes away in a few seconds, or immediately if I shift to neutral. The tach shows a flutter when the car shakes, and it sounds as if the engine is puffing a bit
Has anyone else noticed this ? I'm not sure if its because of bad gas (I use premium, but this got much better after my most recent fillup at a Shell pump). I'll be taking my car to the dealer soon for its regular maintenance (under warranty) and I plan to talk to them about this, but I thought someone here might have important information that would help me understand what's going on.
TIA!

I thought I was just being too ****, but my car does the same. Mine is a 5 speed though, can you let me know what the dealer say when you ask them.
Thanks

I got the car back from the dealership this evening, and yes, it was a bad MAF sensor, which they replaced under warranty. The service statement said the problem was electrical in nature. As it happened, my check engine light came on yesterday, and according to the dealer, it was also related to the MAF failure. Now the car purrs like a kitten, and there's no shaking at all; it definitely feels a lot better, especially on acceleration.
Note: The first thing they asked me when I explained the problem was whether my car was chipped, and I said no. I'm not sure what the implications are if your car has been modded - maybe they'll not honor the warranty, or they'll just tell you they won't do it. I bet there's a lot of information on that matter on this forum though! Hope this helps![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
