Car started up in the morning, but now it wont start...
Hey guys i'm having some trouble with getting my car started.
Well this morning I started my car up to move it. It started up fine. I moved it and went back inside. A few hours later when I'm leaving the house I jump in and try to start the car. It does a good job of turning over but it just wont fire up. After trying a couple of times I managed to get the motor sort of "rumbling" and shaking, but then it would just die.
Does anyone know what this is a symptom of? I want to say the timing is messed up but I thought it was kind of weird, because I didn't even touch anything.
A couple things I should mention is, when I moved the car I started it up, moved it forward about 2 feet and shut the car off real fast (it was cold outside). Also, the fuel pump turns on and that's fine. None of the fuses on the side of the dash are out. Oh yeah, and its a 1.8t
I guess you can tell by now that I am not a car person by any means, lol. Thanks for the help.

What fuel are you running?
Improper grade/insufficient quality fuels can contribute to carbon buildup inside the combustion chamber and on the valves, which could lead to cold start misfires and/or starting problems...the spark plugs could also be fouled as well, have you tried removing and checking them?

My 99.5 will do that, if I run it for a few seconds. I've learned to not run the engine for less...
than 30 seconds. It's a Bosch programming thing. Engine runs super rich at first to torch-off the catalytic converter.
To restart, try holding the accelerator pedal down to the floor while cranking. It should eventually clear itself out.
Avoid those short engine runs in the future.

You flooded it. No big deal. When it's cold, it dumps fuel into the engine. More...
it's not healthy to do that frequently. You push unburned fuel into the cat and you'll foul plugs eventually.

Re: What fuel are you running?
Hey guys. Well I guess I fixed it. I don't know if it was from what solaris described, or because of what GTIVR6 described. I called one of my technician friends from audi and he told me to take off the intercooler hose and clean out the throttle body for carbon build up.
I pushed the throttle body to WOT and cleaned it out with my fingers as much as I could (didn't have any carb cleaner on me). I put it back together and tried started and sure enough it started up fine.
I plan on cleaning it further with a toothbrush and carb cleaner and then Ill probably put some injector cleaner through a fresh tank. Do you think this would be a good idea?
Again, Thanks for the help guys.
