Don't think so, because when the maf gets disconnected the car still runs

Default are you misfiring?

I was misfiring at low RPMs and that was stalling the car out...

Default honestly I am confident it was a loose coilpack. But you can VAG and see...

blocks 015 and 016 are misfire counters... and there will be a misfire DTC BEFORE the CEL comes on...

you need to get your hands on a VAG bro...

Default Check for intake air leaks after the MAF..

I had this same problem. What was happening was that the MAF was reading correclty but the air was never registering into the TB. It was trying to fool the car into having air flow when it wasnt and it tries to die out. Its like your trying to keep the thing alive with the gas pedal but it doenst help.

It could be many things. Now that you have got the red flag, take it to Autozone(if you have one in the area). They will diagnose a check engine light for nothing. It will tell you exactly what the problem is. Most of the time thier equipment wont read the description, it will come up Manufacturer Specific trouble code but it will give you the code and then you can look it up<ul><li><a href="http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/audi/dtc.table.htm">Here..</a></li></ul>

Default Yup, check for post-MAF leaks

I had the same problem. The connection into the turbo compressor had a massive leak, so the MAF was in an unstable feedback loop. If I could get the car started it ran ok, but getting the car started was pretty much impossible.

Good Luck, Ian
