Default Car is suddenly roaring like a tractor + turbo screaming. 97 1.8t AvantQ E-spec.
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/119453/djb_a4_broken_turbo.jpg"></center><p>I opened the hood, and it appears the large pipe has broken off the back of what I assume is the turbocharger... please help me out with the terminology of these parts... I don't want to sound like an idiot when I take it in...

Is this a common problem? Am I Screwed?

Get a new cat, any exhaust shop can set you up, but prices will rise when they see its an Audi : )

Default mmm your 02 will get the wrong readings ..... it is safe but you probally
get some funky mpg - short distance is cool - but wouldn't advise any type of road trip

Default so the cat connects on the turbo? or is that something else? Geez i need to take a class.
..maybe that explains the louder turbo whine?
