Yup tried the good ole jump start to no avail, so I got under the car tonight and connected the gator cable to the transmission and stabbed the wire leading to the starter, it seems to be getting juice as it lit up, is this an indicator of a bad starter? Interesting thing is that the car did this about 2/3 weeks ago and after I got out and took a look under the hood and couldn't find anything immediatley, I tried to start it again and bingo it came to life. Electrical issues suck.

Possibly, I know it sounds silly but try giving your started a bit of a whack. Sometimes the solenoid is fail-ing and not all the way failed. Enough of a force can "reset" the solenoid and you might get a handful more cranks out of it. Once had to do this at an amusement park parking lot to get home! *Warning* do at own risk as whacking anything on the car is dangerous*

It sounds like you may be looking at a new starter though. We have some new starters from the 250-300 range depending on the type of car you have. As far as I know, there is no solenoid rebuild kit. Click here for remanufactured 1.8t starters.

Welp took the starter into the local auto part store and it was declared DOA. Now to ebay or the local junk yard.
