CarFax didn't show that I did $5k damage to the front end by hitting a deer. I didn't care too much b/c the dealership that did the work was the same dealership that I traded it into.
Carfax isn't setup to tell you about body work. Its been said on here already, but it will only show major work (totalled car rebuild) and odometer fraud type-of-issues.

I look at lot of cars. Audi is not the only car that interests me -to answer your obnoxius question
it was two A4's that had salvage titles. It wasn't completely clear why but it looked like the cars had been totaled due to flood damage from the Hurricane down south a few years ago. As you stated in YOUR opinion carfax is useless. Bull****. for $20 bucks I must have looked up thirty or forty cars during our search that did not just include German cars. If it steered me clear of just one car that was 30 miles away it paid for itself. As it was the car that it did steer me clear of was a mint 91 Mercedes Benz 300SEL. Odometer said 98K. Carfax proved 212K. well worth the $20.00 to find that out in twenty seconds whether I bought the car or not.

apology accepted. Carfax doesn't go back far enough to cover antique cars
My antique mercedes can flog the **** out of the A4 in stock form. It wasn't until we put the factory sport stuff on it that it was anything more than a marginal car in the handling department. Now the Mercedes can't even come close but I wouldn't expect it to. After all it's 35 years old with over 300K on the chassis.

I looked up my beater car which I know for a fact has been in 2 accidents and they weren't...
listed on the Car Fax report. It is a joke. They just compile state car registration records in their database. From my experience, their database is NOT accurate.
