Default Carputer opinions

I was thinking about getting a phatnoise system soon, but am briefly thinking about a carputer.

I like the thought of a carputer mainly because it's a cool project to do. I would mainly use it for music, OBD, and HVAC control.

But on the other hand, I can save myself $800 and get the phatnoise. I can't really see myself using a carputer to it's full capabilities; mainly music. Do I really need to have OBD with me all the time?

I dunno, I just bought rims, now I want to do something for the interior, maybe I can put the money I save from a carputer towards a suspension...

Your thoughts?

Get phatnoise, it's excellent. Save money for performance mods.

Default Sorry to thread-jack, but how would one go about fitting a tap screen into the signle-din (96-98)?

I dunno about the conversion, but it seems like it might require quite a bit of wiring.. I guess a flip up style screen would be the only option, but it would be nice to be able to get a double-din fitting in there that would house a 5" or 6" screen nicely

Default if you search quite a number of people have molded 6 inch screens in

most people mold it into the face plate. You have to relocate the HVAC controls in order to make the screen fit. It isn't too much wiring at all.
